Nadezhda (Надежда) means Hope. She is named after the Nadezhda Hope sled dog race in Chukotka, Siberia. In 1991, the Nadezhda Hope race was the first transcontinental international dogsled race which united two countries, the US and Russia and the two polar regions, Alaska and Chukotka. We were fortunate to be able to visit Chukotka and run the 2014 Nadezhda Hope race with our team. Hope is a sweet girl who likes just about anyone and loves to run in the team. She is very fond of food.

Nadezhda Hope has her sisters Uelen, Silver Gulch and brother Grizzly in our kennel and Bering at Shaytaan Siberian Huskies in Whitehorse.

Her mother Najak finished among others both the 2014 and 2015 Iditarod with our team and her handsome father Shaytaan’s Psycho Killer (Psycho) finished the Yukon Quest as well as the Iditarod multiple times and was a great leader. He was also part of the first team of Siberian Huskies to finish both the Yukon Quest and Iditarod in one season with musher Rob Cooke.
