Uelen, in Chukchi Увэлен, means black, thawed patch which fits well to the color of Uelen’s coat. It is also the name of the easternmost settlement in Russia and Eurasia, near Cape Dezhnev where the Bering Sea meets the Chukchi Sea. We have fond memories of our visit to Uelen by dogteam during the 2014 Nadezhda Hope Race. A truly beautiful and special place.

Uelen has her sisters Nadezhda Hope, Silver Gulch and brother Grizzly in our kennel and Bering at Shaytaan Siberian Huskies in Whitehorse.

We’re excited to see what the future holds for this litter – Najak, who finished among others both the 2014 and 2015 Iditarod with our team is their mother and the handsome Shaytaan’s Psycho Killer (Psycho) who finished the 2013 and 2015 Yukon Quest as well as the 2015 Iditarod as part of the first team of Siberian Huskies to finish both 1000 mile races in one season with musher Rob Cooke their father.
