Sisu and Snuppa are expecting puppies!

We made it!

Sisu and Snuppa under the Burled Arch in Nome, Iditarod 2015

We’re thrilled that our key leaders Sisu and her daughter Snuppa are expecting puppies in around 3 weeks. We normally don’t expect puppies this late in the season as our best females usually are needed on the race team, but as we are not racing any of the big races this Winter we were finally able to breed these fantastic girls. Both Sisu and Snuppa’s heat cycle had been somewhat challenging with respect to breeding – either they were in heat just around Iditarod or too late in the Summer.

Snuppa has been on our A-team since our very first race, Finnmarksløpet 2012. She has never been dropped from any race she entered, and ran in lead the entire 2014 as well as 2015 Iditarod, as well as the 2014 Nadezhda Hope race. Snuppa excels when conditions get tough. She loves challenges, and is having more fun the tougher the trail or weather/conditions get.

Her mother Sisu is equally outstanding as leader, and has like her daughter never been dropped from any race she entered. She had her first season with us in 2013, and ran almost the entire 2015 Iditarod in lead side by side her daughter Snuppa.

Both these girls are very social and get along with absolutely everyone. They charm whoever they meet and are silly and playful when not at work. Both scream of joy whenever we’re up to something exciting, whether it is going for a run, food, playtime, … and love relaxing inside on the couch.

We’ve chosen Quimby as partner for both Sisu and Snuppa. Quimby came to us in Summer 2014 from Kennel Loufranc-Maximus in Canada. He is an incredibly social and lovely boy with a fantastic conformation and ravenous appetite. Quimby is hard working and was on our team both during the 2015 Knik and Iditarod. His conformation and personality matche very nicely to Sisu and Snuppa, and we’re excited to breed to Quimby’s lines.
