We’ve just been to Iditarod Trail Committee Headquarter in Wasilla for the 2013 Volunteer Picnic and 2014 sign up, where Yvonne signed up for her first Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. The Picnic & Sign-up is a social event with mushers and volunteers mingling, and we had a great time. A total of fifty-two mushers signed up on the opening day for entries, and a complete list of the mushers is available at www.iditarod.com! March 1st 2014. Mark the date – only 242 days and 23 hours to the start!
As of 2013/14 we are in the process of building up our still mostly young team of dogs. We will have a total of 21 dogs in training. They don’t have much race experience yet, some none at all, and Yvonne is not exactly experienced either having entered her very fist race, the 300 mile Finnmarksløpet, in 2012. As a rookie team and rookie musher in our first 1000 mile race we are looking forward to a positive race- and learning experience in the 2014 Iditarod. We believe in learning by doing. This years goal is to finish – and our highest priority is a happy and healthy team at all times. The well-being of our dogs comes first, no matter what.
